Majirane Coffee

Femmes & communauté

Coffee as a Driver of Independence for Lake Kivu's Women.

Our Commitment

Giving Women Their Rightful Place in the Coffee Sector

Majirane pays particular attention to the place of women in agricultural work. The cooperative helps them understand and assert their role, their rights and their importance in the coffee sector, while fostering a spirit of mutual support and entrepreneurship.

Training & Skills

Soap-making, sewing and literacy: training designed to diversify women members' income beyond the harvest alone.

Financial Independence

Support for entrepreneurship so that women manage their own coffee income and develop other activities, with direct involvement in marketing products.

Reforestation

Propagating and distributing coffee seedlings to members combines increased production with the fight against climate change.

A partner roaster (Mr. Espresso) notes that Majirane now sustainably employs several women and, in season, calls on more than 150 seasonal workers — a sign of the cooperative's growth since its founding.
