Three stations, the same washing standard, on the shore of Lake Kivu.
Every Cherry Is Pulped Then Washed by the Cooperative
Cherries harvested by members are pulped, fermented and then washed at one of our three stations before drying on African beds. Dry milling is then carried out through our partner cooperative Muungano.
Buchiro Station
The cooperative's historic station, built in 2021 in the Mbinga-Nord grouping (Kalehe territory), on the shore of Lake Kivu. This is where most cherries are pulped, fermented and washed before drying on African beds.
Kishinji Station
A complementary micro-station, opened in 2024, which allows more isolated groups of producers to process their cherries quickly, without compromising on washing quality.
Rwamiko Station
The cooperative's third station, on the shore of Lake Kivu, which strengthens Majirane's washing capacity and brings collection points even closer to its most remote members.
Together, our 3 stations now serve 854 members, including 525 women (61%) and 329 men (39%).
